This summer, we received exciting news from Green Living Magazine: Sedona Recycles had been nominated for their Best of Arizona 2024 – Most Sustainability-Minded Nonprofit award.
We were honored just to be considered. After all, the other ten nominees included some of the most impressive and well-known nonprofits in the state. Going up against such strong competition, we assumed the recognition would end at the nomination stage.
So when we learned that Sedona Recycles had actually won, we were stunned—in the best possible way! Yes, we mentioned the voting link a few times on social media and included it in our newsletter, but the truth is, this win belongs to you—our incredible community. Thanks to your votes and your support, Sedona Recycles was named the Best Sustainability-Minded Nonprofit in Arizona.
This win was made extra special by the beautiful write‐up in the October issue of Green Living Magazine and the elegant awards ceremony held in Tempe that same month.
Board President Doug Copp, board member Brock Delinski, our 25-year veteran Peter Hordorwich, and Executive Director Kathleen Ventura all made the trip to celebrate this community-voted honor, representing Sedona Recycles with pride.
Sedona didn’t just take home one award this year. Besides Sedona Recycles being named Best Sustainably Minded Nonprofit, several other Sedona businesses and leaders were recognized in various sustainability categories:

- Sedona (city/area) – Best Arizona Day Trip Destination
- ChocolaTree – Best Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurant
- Local Juicery – Best Smoothie or Juice Joint
- Golden Bone Pet Products – Best Natural Pet Food Store
- Compost Crowd – Winner in four categories
