Tam has been selflessly committed to Sedona Recycles for 21 years as of 2025. In that time she has moved from a line-sorter, to a yard worker, to now leading as our Director of Operations. Sedona Recycles would not be what it is today without her loyalty and hard work over the last two decades. Tam originally hails from Alaska and moved to Washington state before making the Verde Valley home thirty years ago. In her free time Tam enjoys cooking a delicious plant-based meal, cozying up by her fireplace with her 5 dogs, and camping with her identical twin sister.
- [Peter Hordorwich](https://sedonarecycles.org/dipl-team-member/peter-hordorwich/): Peter is synonymous with Sedona Recycles. Last year marked 26 years of Peter at Sedona Recycles. He is the chief engineer and jack-of-all trades having built most of the Sedona Recycles facility with his two hands, he is truly an invaluable member of our team. In addition to all of the maintenance work on our equipment and facility, Pete can nearly always be found not too far from our drop-off bins in the parking lot enthusiastically helping patrons recycle their materials with a smile on his face. He is the primary caretaker of our resident community cats - Joey and Mama. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he has now called Sedona home for more than three decades. He values community, compassion towards all beings, and being a steward of the environment. In his free time he likes to collect $2 bills, fancies a good meal with great people, and enjoys coming into work on his days off.
- [Kathleen Ventura](https://sedonarecycles.org/dipl-team-member/kathleen-ventura/): Kathleen proudly serves as the third woman to lead Sedona Recycles as Executive Director since its founding in 1989. What began with three local women collecting recyclables in their personal vehicles has grown into a fully operational nonprofit recycling facility—an evolution Kathleen is honored to guide. She credits her dedicated staff for the organization’s daily success and the Board’s ongoing support for helping cultivate the best possible recycling resource for Sedona’s residents and businesses.
- [Fran Alvarado](https://sedonarecycles.org/dipl-team-member/fran-alvarado/): Fran served as Sedona Recycles’ on-site Educator for a year, helping community members understand what’s truly recyclable in Sedona. Though she recently relocated to Oregon, she continues to share her expertise by creating educational content—including instructional videos, informative blog posts, and a monthly column in the Red Rock News. Fran graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s in Environmental Studies and later received a master’s from Northern Arizona University in Sustainable Communities. While completing her master’s, her passion for waste mitigation grew. After graduating from NAU, Fran became the Sustainability Specialist for Campus Dining and was introduced to plastic waste and waste mitigation as a concept. She is incredibly proud of bringing a new reusable container system on NAU’s campus (USEFULL) with the full support and funding from NAU Green Fund. Fran’s USEFULL program was awarded the Arizona Forward Environmental Excellence of Circular Economy in 2025. She also helped with fostering a partnership with Pepsi Nackard bottling company to collect and recycle all single-use at football home games alongside NAU Campus Dining, the Office of Sustainability, and NAU Athletics. In her free time, she enjoys digging holes, bicycling, being a dedicated mashed potato enthusiast, and watching soap operas.
